Here are some useful tools we've developed for free use.
Energy
An estimate of how much energy you use in a day. It combines resting energy (the Mifflin-St Jeor formula) with how much you move.
Resting (BMR)
1,818kcal
Energy used at complete rest
Maintenance (TDEE)
2,817kcal
With your activity
Target
2,817kcal
Per day
The formula gives a starting figure. Most people hold a target for two to three weeks, watch the scale and the mirror, and then adjust by 100 to 200 kcal. The estimate is less accurate for people who are much heavier or leaner than average. The formula was developed for adults.
Intake
Splits a calorie target into grams of protein, fat and carbohydrate. The fields are filled from the TDEE tool above. Type over them to use your own numbers.
Enter calories and body weight, or use the TDEE tool first.
These are the ranges most sports nutrition guidance uses. Protein between 1.6 and 2.4 g per kg covers most people who train. Many people report feeling flat when fat stays below about 20% of calories for long stretches. Carbohydrate takes whatever is left, so it moves the most when calories change.
Composition
The US Navy tape method. Measure relaxed, with the tape snug, at the same time of day each time. It is useful for tracking your own trend. A DEXA scan is more accurate.
Body fat
14.9%
Any single reading can be a few percent out either way. Measure the same way every two to four weeks and watch the direction of the trend.
Reference
Australian labs report in SI units. US ranges and most online posts use conventional units. This converts between them in either direction.
Converting the unit does not change the result. Whether a value is high or low depends on the reference range printed next to it on your report.
Prep
These things change a result for reasons unrelated to your health. Tick them off the day before.

Keep the rest of your routine as it is. The test is most useful when it reflects a normal week, and the doctor knows what you told us you take. Keep taking any prescribed medication as normal. If you are unsure, ask the doctor who prescribed it.

Answer three questions and this points you at the panel that fits.
Our suggestion
Physique Standard
Everything in Basic plus the fuller hormone axis (LH, FSH, prolactin), cortisol, IGF-1, insulin and HbA1c. Built for people who train hard.
With Results + Report the HYLABS doctor reviews every marker knowing what you take, writes the report and goes through it with you on a call.
Go to Physique StandardIf you are still unsure, the Standard panel suits most people who train. Every panel comes with the portal, and the doctor can discuss any extra markers on the call.
These tools are for education. They do not diagnose or treat anything. Talk to your doctor about what your own results mean.
